Hi Susan, Thanks for your message. It's a really complex sentence, where does it come from? it sounds like it's from a novel or poem. The meaning isn't really about being able to manage, it's a comment on how painful love can be. It's saying that anything more painful than love would be impossible to bear, meaning that love is the most painful thing in the world. I hope this helps to make it a little clearer!
