State Opening of the Parliament: a weird yet wonderful combination of modernity and tradition!

Today, there's one news dominating the headline here in the UK -- the State Opening of the Parliament by the Queen.

The Christmas Number One

It's a kind of "tradition" that artists will give all they have to become the number on the chart on Xmas. If you've seen the film "Love Actually", you'd remember in the film Billy Mack makes a vitorious comeback by topping the Christmas chart with that hilariously funny "Christmas is all round me" song?

I'm usually very happy to sponsor friends raising money for charity but I always say no to anything where some of the sponsor money is going to fund a parachute jump or trip. Why the poppy?

In case you don’t know what a poppy is, look at this picture I found from a website:

Bonfire night, horray~~~

Yesterday, i.e., 5 November, I had a fun evening in a small town near York named Harrogate where I saw a lot of fireworks. It’s because it was the annual Bonfire Day here in the UK.
