I enjoy living in Hong Kong, and outside of missing family and friends. I only wish I was back in the UK on certain occasions.
One of those times was last week when the Glastonbury festival came round. For those of you who don't know, Glastonbury is the UK's largest music festival. It attracts around 100,000 people or more, and as tickets are so rare there are many who have attempt to avoid guards and jump the fence just to hear classic artists mixed with the best in new music.
The saving grace for those not in Somerset at the festival is that the web has brought Glastonbury to our living rooms. To get a flavour for what it is all about, check out the BBC's Glastonbury site for videos of famous artists plus a whole range of interviews and podcasts -www.bbc.co.uk/glastonbury
My favourite act this year was Jay-Z, not exactly a British artist, but before the festival he was criticised by Oasis star Noel Gallagher, who said that Glastonbury was a guitar music festival and there wasn't a place for Hip Hop on the main stage.
Read a review of what happened during Jay-Z's performance in the British newspaper the Guardian http://tinyurl.com/54r5ur
Outside of fesitvals, the purpose of this weekly blog is to recommend new music from the British Council's music show the Selector: http://tinyurl.com/ygm2js
My recommended artist from this weeks playlist are the Infadels- they are a London based rock/dance band who have just released their latest album Universe in Reverse. The music is fast and a little bit poppy, but I think their energetic, guitar frenzy makes you want to give it more than one listen. Download it and let me know what you think below. Alternatively you can find them on
