I like to read simple happy things - books I liked when I was younger, lightweight romance, very gentle crime novels like those by Agatha Christie. I like magazines too, of general interest. At the moment I am enjoying one called the 'People's Friend". It is often looked on as a magazine for older people, but I have enjoyed it since I was very young. It has many stories, but also sections on cooking, crafts, reading, travel and health. It is also quite cheap !
I totally agree with you hermia!!! I read “a history of English speaking peoples” by Winston Churchill, really boring! I’ll spend my life time to read this box-set.
