Today I foud an exercise adout "to do / doing" used as object completemen : Mr. Rock was sent by a long-distance call ___________ to see his badly injured brother. A. to hurry B. hurrying C. hurry D. hurried . The correct answer given by the refernce book is B . My question here is :Why can't we choose answer A? Can you tell me what is the difference between "send sb. to do " and "send sb. ding " please? Thank you

Hi Kwei, The difference here is that 'send sb to do sth' means that they leave in order to complete a task or action, for example, 'I sent my brother to get some milk'. 'Send sb doing' is about the way they move, for example, 'She sent the papers flying across the room', 'The punch sent him staggering towards the door'. Hope this answers your question, Johnny
