As a student teacher, it's a quite unique experience in my whole life. I was assigned to the ninth grade of a middle school, which is a great challenge and opportunity to me! How to be a good teacher is a question always haunting in my mind. Before my 1st lesson, the most assigned task is to check student's homework and to get familiar with them. When I write "A" or minus in their homework, I can always, to some extent, have a general idea of their personality, but to see them personally always give you a different image of your students. Perhaps, the homework can only reflect part of their personality. The 1st lesson was a speaking lesson, but to teach abbreviation in English. My God! What should I do? We only use it in our writing. How can I give a interesting lesson about it? It harrassed me for a long time. I designed the PPT with teaching plan by myself. In the end, I got a little nervous, standing before the class to explain who I am and what they should learn. The students quite behaved well, which ease my nervousness a lot. The 1st lesson sucked! I didn't control the time very well, but I made it up in my 2nd class. Teaching experience is precious to me !~

To be a good teacher is really a hard work especially in the large class. The levels of students are all different. However, it feel good if students can understand what you say and do a good job in their study.

Reading your post, I can feel that you are very passionate about teaching and that's the important factor in becoming a good teacher. You survived your first lesson anyway! I remember when I was in middle school, there were always some intern teachers teaching us for a few lessons. And we would always tease them and outwardly point out their mistakes if they made any. At least your students are nice to you ;)
