Mistake or Fault
February 20, 2008, 1:26 pm
Hi Aliy, This is quite a difficult one to explain, but I'll try to make it as simple as possible! 'I made a mistake' simply means that I did something wrong, for example, a spelling mistake or an adding mistake. It's usually used to talk about mental processes or decisions. 'It was my fault' means that something bad happened because of me, so we might say 'It was my fault that you got lost because I made a mistake when I told you the address'. It can be used to talk about any type of action, for example breaking something, having an accident or making a mistake with a mental process. TI hope this helps, let me know if you want some more examples. Johnny
