Examples of use

Why don't you take a gap year and do some voluntary work?

Unfortunately this is not something a Chinese student can and would do -- taking a gap year. Most will just go directly to the job market.

Chenbaibia, having a 'gap year' is really super! Secondary school students can take a one-year break to travel or work before entering the Uni. We don't have this system in Hong Kong but in Britain, students can do that...really envy them!
