I enjoy living in Hong Kong, and outside of missing family and friends. I only wish I was back in the UK on certain occasions. One of those times was last week when the Glastonbury festival came round.
For those of you who don't know, Glastonbury is the UK's largest music festival. It attracts around 100,000 people or more, and as tickets are so rare there are many who have attempted to dodge the security and jump the fence just to hear classic artists mixed with the best in new music.
The saving grace for those not in Somerset at the festival is that the web has brought Glastonbury to our living rooms. To get a flavour for what it is all about, check out the BBC's Glastonbury site for videos of famous artists plus a whole range of interviews and podcasts.
My favourite act this year was Jay-Z, not exactly a British artist, but before the festival he was criticised by Oasis star Noel Gallagher, who said that Glastonbury was a guitar music festival and there wasn't a place for Hip Hop on the main stage. Read a review of what happened during Jay-Z's performance in the British newspaper the Guardian
Outside of fesitvals, the purpose of this weekly blog is to recommend new music from the British Council's music show the Selector
My recommended artist from this weeks playlist are The Infadels- they are a London based indie band who have just released their latest album 'Universe in Reverse'. The music is fast and a little bit poppy, but I think their energetic, guitar frenzy makes you want to give it more than one listen.
Download it and let me know what you think below. Alternatively, you can find them on YouTube
Hope you enjoy the blog, and if you wish to write in with suggestions or have your own music reviews please send them to me at english.online@britishcouncil.org.cn

Thanks Andy, I haven't heard of any of them, and will have listen to them on myspace/lastfm and will have a look for you on the BBC site. Glastonbury for me was the Prodigy, Chemical Brothers though as I am from Reading, I ended up going there and had the fortune of seeing Nirvana followed by Future Sound of London which was great.

Hi Andy I've been lucky enough to attend Glastonbury for the last 2 years running and this year was amazing. I've been to quite a few festivals in the UK and around Europe and I think, without a doubt, that Glastonbury is the best festival around in terms of organisation and of course the band line up. People come from around the world to watch and play at the festival and there is such an amazing atmosphere. This year was particularly good because it didn’t rain....well not much anyway. Traditionally Glastonbury is a wet, muddy festival. The first year I went we had 1 day of sun and then it rained for pretty much 4 days and everyone had to get used to wearing wellington boots day and night. This year luckily there were only a few showers and the sun shined the rest of the time, which made for some amazing backdrops to some amazing bands. My favourite bands this year were Foals, Hot Chip, Battles and The Duke Spirit - check them out on myspace - the Foals set is available to watch on the BBC website, I was to the next sound desk in a yellow poncho! I thoroughly recommend the Glastonbury festival to anyone and everyone!
